How to Recover Unsaved Work with Local Draft Backup

How PaintForce automatically saves a draft of your work in progress in case something goes wrong.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

PaintForce now includes a Local Draft Backup feature that automatically saves your progress when you're working on a job—even if your app crashes, your phone dies, or you lose your network connection.

Whenever you’re creating or editing a job, PaintForce takes snapshots of your work and stores them locally on your device. This means you don’t need to worry about losing everything if something goes wrong before you hit “Save.”

🆕 Creating a New Job

If the app crashes while you're creating a new job:

  • The draft will automatically appear at the top of your Work screen with a flag that says "Unsaved Changes."

  • Tap on the job, and you'll be prompted to either:

    • Recover Draft – resume exactly where you left off

    • Delete Forever – discard the local copy

✏️ Editing an Existing Job

If you're editing an existing job (like removing line items or editing a quote), and the app crashes:

  • You’ll still see "Unsavede Changes" on the job in the Work screen.

  • Tap the job to open the job overview.

  • The quote, invoice, or work order you were editing will show the same "Unsaved Changes" indicator.

  • Press on it and select Edit

  • Choose to:

    • Recover Draft to continue from your last local progress

    • Delete Forever to discard the changes and keep the version in the cloud

This works not only for quotes, but also for invoices and work orders.

📸 Important Note About Images

Drafts do not save uploaded images. If you added photos (e.g., a job cover photo or line item image), you’ll need to re-upload them after recovering your draft. Notes and text are preserved, but image files are not.
